Houseplants as a hobby
Houseplants have been cultivated for hundres of years, and it has become an increasingly popular hobby. It was common to see one or two plants in the occasional person's home, but the hobby of having multiple houseplants, sometimes in the hundreds has become more and more widespread. Some of this is in part due to increase in information, some in their increasing availibility and some due to people trying to find new things to do while at home during the 2020 pandemic. Regardless of the reason, the hobby is becoming increasingly popular.
To raise your chances of success there are a few pieces of information that should be considered for each plant. The first and most important thing is to recognize the type of plant that is being raised. This will dictate the type of care, materials, watering needs and general lighting or temprature the plant thrives best with. After establishing the type of plant and it's basic needs, picking a pot that helps create ideal conditions is the next logical step. Additionally picking your substrate based on the plants needs is the next logical step. Substrate can be as simple as setting the plant down, or as complex as making and mixing your own dirt. Luckily there are simple middle ground options. Lastly, once all of thoes things are established all that is left is to find adequate lighting and refer to the plants individual water needs and establishing a routine.
Happy Planting!
